The Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP) opens Frans Krajcberg: Redescubrir el árbol (Frans Krajcberg: Rediscovering the Tree). Known for his work deeply connected to nature and environmental activism, Krajcberg created sculptures, reliefs, and paintings using organic materials such as trunks, roots, and stones, shaping a language that merges art and ecological commitment.
The exhibition, part of MASP’s annual Histories of Ecology program, is curated by Adriano Pedrosa and Laura Cosendey. It brings together works spanning over five decades and is organized into seven thematic sections. The pieces reflect the artist’s environmental engagement, shaped by his direct experience with the destruction of Brazil’s diverse biomes.
Originally from Poland and later naturalized as a Brazilian citizen, Krajcberg settled in the Atlantic Forest region of southern Bahia in the 1970s. His artistic activism also manifested in initiatives such as the Manifesto of the Rio Negro, written after a 1978 expedition to the Amazon.
Frans Krajcberg: Redescubrir el árbol will be on view to the public through October 19, 2025.
