"Francis Picabia: Our Heads Are Round so Our Thoughts Can Change Direction"

The Museum of Modern Art in New York City presents until March 19, 2017, the exhibition titled "Francis Picabia: Our Heads Are Round so Our Thoughts Can Change Direction. This is the first grand monographic exhibition in the United Stated that offers a complete panoramic view of Francis Picabia's artistic career: It includes about 200 works created in multiple mediums that explore the critical role played by the artist in the twentieth century. Specifically, 125 paintings, about 45 works on paper, a film, and a selection of printed material, produced between the first decade of the twentieth century and the beginning of the 1950s. One among the great modern artists, Francis Picabia (France, 1897-1953) energetically rejected any singular style or medium and developed his oeuvre through painting, performance, poetry, publications and film. Despite being best known as one of the leaders of the Dadaist movement, his career ranged from impressionism to radical abstraction, from Dadaist provocation to pseudo-classicism, and from photographic realism to Informalism. The exhibition is organized by the Museum of Modern Art in New York in collaboration with Kunsthaus Zürich.
