Fortune Cookie Corner by Felix González-Torres at 1000 places around the world

Andrea Rosen Gallery and David Zwirner will present "Untitled" (Fortune Cookie Corner) by Feliz González-Torres from May 25 to July 5. Andrea Rosen, as curator of the exhibition, invited 1,000 people around the world to install the work (loan from a Private Collection) in the place of their choice, including friends of González-Torres, artists, curators, colleagues, among others. The work will be presented in different locations at the same time; although it is not the first work by González-Torres to be exhibited in this way, it will be the first on such a large scale. The invited participants have to install between 240 and 1000 "fortune cookies" in one corner. Each participant will be responsible for the supply - 350 cookies are around 30 dollars in Amazon. Anyone who finds the work can take cookies. Then on June 14, the installers will replenish the fortune cookies.
The work is González-Torres' first example of his famous series "Candy" and the only one that does not involve wrapped sweets. The work was designed to "manifest easily," according to the invitation to participants. Participants have been asked to email photos of the work in various states, as its installation and the cookies replenishment, which will be posted on the Rosen and Zwirner gallery websites. The new Felix Gonzalez-Torres Foundation website will explore the artist's legacy and works further, and it will launch on the first day of the "Untitled" (Fortune Cookie Corner) exhibition.
