Finalists of the Second Edition of the Azcuy Award

Azcuy, a Real Estate company that develops, projects, builds, and markets residential buildings, in alliance with the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires, dependent of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, announced on September 18 the seven projects selected as finalists of the Second Edition of the Azcuy Award.
Those chosen from more than 1,100 registrants from all over the country are Adriana Bustos for her project “Mundo Imaginal,” Valentín Demarco (project without title), Mariana De Matteis for her project “Paisaje Errante,” Juan Gugger (project without title), Mónica Heller for her project “Pequeño museo vivo para la regeneración de la atmósfera terrestre,” Ramiro Pons Quesada for his project "Los intercesores" and the collective "Blinky Caballito" (Laura Ojeda Bär and Matías Malizia) for their project “El maravilloso universo de la arena.”
The artists will compete for a prize of $800,000 in addition to the production of their unpublished work, which will be entirely paid for by Azcuy, to be exhibited as a site-specific work on the ground floor of DONNA Acqua, one of the buildings that the company is building in the city of Buenos Aires.
The Prize Jury is made up by Victoria Noorthoorn (Director of the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires), Fernanda Brenner (Founder and Director of Pivô, São Paulo, Brazil), Mónica Giron (artist), Carlos Huffmann (artist and director of the Art Department of the Di Tella University), Javier Villa (Senior Curator of the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires), Alejandra Aguado (Curator of the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires) and Sol Juárez (Architect, Creative Project Manager, Azcuy ). The announcement of the winning work of this edition will take place in November.
“We are extremely excited about the result of the call for this new edition of the Award. Even in a context as complicated as the current one, where the artists could not tour the building in person, and we had to adopt new tools so that they could get to know the intervention spaces virtually, we had more than 1,000 submissions from all over the country. For us, it is enormous satisfaction to generate new scenarios that allow the visibility of national talent and, at the same time, manage to stimulate, disseminate, and value creative processes,” mentioned Gerardo Azcuy, Founder of AZCUY.
“We celebrate with great enthusiasm this second edition of the Azcuy Award, whose jury met yesterday to choose seven noteworthy finalists with compelling projects that will surprise us all. It is a joy and an honor for our Museum to organize this great award together with Azcuy to offer this great platform of experience in developing large-scale works that are integrated into our city. It is another instance of joining forces to support the great community of artists in our country,” said Victoria Noorthoorn, director of the Modern Museum.
