La Naturaleza en Relación a la Metrópoli (Nature in Relationship to the Metropolis) is the title of the event organized by the Istituto Italo-Latino Americano (IILA) and Zone Attive, with the support of the IDB Cultural Center (Inter-American Development Bank). It will be held from September 24 to October 24, 2010. The subject will be the exploration of the tension and value of nature in large urban areas. The call is open to Latin American photographers (born after January 1, 1975, and members of the IILA) from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
All material must arrive before May 31, 2010 at the following address: Istituto Italo-Latino Americano, Segreteria Culturale, Palazzo Santacroce, Piazza Benedetto Cairoli, 3, 00186 Rome, Italy. The chosen works will be evaluated by a competent jury made up of three members of the international photographic world ¿ one representing the IDB Cultural Center ¿ presided over by Patricia Rivadeneira, Cultural Secretary of the ILLA, and Marco Delogu, Artistic Director of the Festival. A selection of the best works will be exhibited at the IILA and at the IDB Cultural Center in Washington, D.C. The sole winner will receive a round-trip airplane ticket in coach to travel to Rome, 1,500.00 Euros for travel expenses, and a one-month stay at the IILA guest house in the historical quarter of the Rome beginning on September 20 in order to participate in the inauguration of FotoGrafia. During his/her stay, the winner will develop a photographic project about the city of Rome. An editor chosen by Festival Artistic Director Marco Delogu will assist the artist in this process.
