International Design Festival of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina

The Centro Metropolitano de Diseño of the Economic Development Ministry of the City of Buenos Aires officially presented its ¿Buenos Aires International Design festival,¿ to be held for a second edition October 22nd through 31st at the CMD¿s headquarters, in Villarino 2498, and in circuits throughout the city. The act was presided by Enrique Avogardo, the city¿s Director of Creative Civic Industries and External Commerce, and Anabella Rondina, coordinator of the CMD. They also announced the inauguration of the CMD building, located in the Barracas neighborhood, slated for the month of September. Under the slogan of ¿Design for All,¿ an open call was presented to companies, professionals, and institutions to participate in the Design Festival, which seeks to promote applied design in exclusive and niche products, towards a global vision of positive influence on the everyday life of the city¿s population. The first edition of the International Design festival was held in October, 2006, gathered more than 150 designers from all disciplines, and was visited by over 30,000 people; it showcased local design in export containers displaying samples of products. As part of the Buenos Aires International Design Festival, there will be exhibitions, conferences, installations, parades, launches, shows, round table discussions, workshops, fairs, contests, urban circuits, and other activities. There will also be a ¿Design Cities Summit¿ with representatives of locations designated Design Cities by UNESCO.
