Fernando de Szyszlo at the Museo Rayo

Until November 4 of 2016, the Museo Rayo presents an exhibition by Peruvian artist Fernando de Szyszlo (1925). The show consists of paintings that correspond to de Szyszlo's most recent productions. According to Miguel González, curator of the Museo Rayo, "The work by Fernando de Szyszlo is highly regarded in Colombia, as attested by the presence of his work in public collections in Santa María, Cartagena, Cali, and Bogota, and by the organization of solo exhibitions in different cities of Colombia. Referents to ancestral and timeless elements support Szyszlo's aesthetic arguments, which are resolved through gestures and chromatic solutions. This exhibition includes paintings dominated by blue tones, and his light spectrums contrast his tenebrist solutions. Szyszlo's paintings are not only unified by their chromatic range but also by constructions broken and projected on large spaces that are almost metaphysical." In 1992, the Museo Rayo presented the work by de Szyzslo as part of the events to celebrate its 11th anniversary. That solo exhibition also included some of his graphic works.
