Colombian photographer Felipe Romero (1992) presents “Bravo” until May 18. This exhibition was the winning project of the second edition of the 2021 KBr Photo Award of the Fundación MAFRE.
Romero captures a segment of the Bravo River that forms part of the thousand kilometers of border line between Mexico and the United States along its course. Through images of people, landscapes, and architecture, “Bravo” constructs a poetic narrative that rethinks the idea of waiting and border identity. The images focus on a specific section of the Mexican zone where people arrive from Colombia, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala, among others. For the migrants, this is the last stop on their journey, as they are unable to cross the river, conditioning their possible ways of life.
The show features fifty-two (52) images that bring the viewer closer to a reality faced by millions of people through different images that highlight the textures, colors, and portraits of individuals that Romero has met during his trips through the region.
