The visual arts academic Project of the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, and ASAB, its exhibition space, directed by Professor Gustavo Sanabria, mark the renovations of this exhibition space by presenting the exhibitions: Expulsion, by artist Rafael Méndez, and The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, by artist Wilson Díaz. The shows will remain open to the public until May 31 and June 6, respectively. Expulsion centers on the theme of expulsion understood in the context of the political and social experience that has marked the Colombian identity, as well as the basic experience—that touches on the human condition—gathered from the most meaningful symbolic expressions of culture. The proposal stems from a photographic image authored by prominent Colombian photojournalist Jesús Abad-Colorado, thus allowing the lattice of actions, visual and sound presences from which an approximation to one of the most sensitive basis of our historic experience is generated. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised was curated by the Equipo TransHisTor(ia), formed by María Sol Barón and Camilo Ordoñez-Robayo, who since 2012 have been developing research about the artistic trajectory of Wilson Díaz. As result, the exhibition presents works by this important artist that share things in common with the video clip as audiovisual genre, and that involve themes and objects from the musical discography of Colombia. The exhibition will be open to the public Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. http://www.salasab.com/
