The exhibit Marcel Duchamp: Una Obra Que No Es Una Obra ¿De Arte¿, organized by the PROA Foundation, was open to the public in July 15, 2008, at the São Paulo Museum of Art. It is the largest exhibit of Duchamp¿s works ever held in Latin-America. Curated by Elena Filipovic, the show includes emblematic works by the French artist. On November 22, 2008, the exhibit will open at the PROA Foundation to inaugurate that institution¿s new space. Duchamp: Una Obra Que No Es Una Obra ¿De Arte¿, gathers approximately 140 works that underscore Duchamp¿s versatility as an artist, curator, designer, typographer and cultural promoter. The exhibit is accompanied by a 360 page catalog containing an important selection of images. It also includes a group of essays that allow the reader to understand the context and importance of Marcel Duchamp, and his contribution to the history of art. The international colloquium on Duchamp will be held for the first time during the presentation of the exhibit at the PROA Foundation,. The colloquium is organized by Paul B. Franklin, art critic and editor of the Étant donné Marcel Duchamp magazine. For information on the colloquium write to Duchamp@proa.org
