For a period spanning 25 years, the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno-IVAM (Valencian Institute of Modern Art-IVAM) has received several artwork donations valued at over 52 million Euros. Of the 10,643 artworks found in IVAM¿s collection, 68 percent derive from donations by collectors, artists, and heirs who, through these donations, have contributed to increasing the cultural and artistic heritage of the Museum. With the purpose of showcasing an important part of the donated pieces, IVAM presents a grand exhibition entitled Donaciones that occupies five sections of the museum: galleries 2, 3, 4, and 7, and the second floor lobby. The 500 works exhibited ¿ some of which are shown to the public for the first time ¿ are arranged according to the guidelines that define the remainder of the collections shown in the museum. The exhibition pays tribute to the artists whose works are part of the collection. The catalog published to complement the exhibition reproduces a wide selection of the works donated to IVAM, including the works in the exhibition, and also features writings by David Anfam, Jeremy Strick, William Jeffet, Fernando Castro-Flórez, Fumio Nanjo. Consuelo Císcar, Tomàs Llorens, and Boye Llorens. The exhibition was inaugurated on July 22 and will remain open until September 12, 2010.
