Tate’s Online Event Performance
Resilient Responses is Tate taking action towards the health crisis that has prevented its program to be appreciated and even developed. The museums have been closed for several months or closed and reopened with small windows that have not allowed the general public to enjoy the works and the exhibitions.
As part of the Terra Foundation for American Art Series, the Tate has prepared new ways for the public to enjoy art and think about the idea of resilience during this social distance situation. The first initiative of this series is Repair And Restore, on view until 21 February 2021. Bruce Nauman uses his body to explore what it means to be human. Inspired by his work and in response to the pandemic, this workshop encourages audiences to explore stillness, movement, and breath. This meditative workshop is an invitation to slow down, reflect, and connect with your inner power and resilience.
Organized with the psychotherapist Ekin Bernay to reap the health benefits of moving your body.

The second initiative will be on view until 4 March 2021; it was performed live to be recorded in the empty tanks during the lockdown. The artists Thomas Heyes, Ekin Bernay, and Rowdy SS, with special guest Rebecca Bellantoni, through movement, sound, and spoken word, delve into a response that questions what it means to be human and resilient. Reflections from the artists follow the performances as they invite the viewers to think about the current idea of being resilient.
Each artist explores the ideas around identity, isolation, alienation, and human resilience during these uncertain times. Also, the work intends to create a dialogue with Bruce Nauman’s work.
