Ernesto Neto

Faena Arts Center presents the exhibition by Ernesto Neto entitled Ernesto Neto O Bicho SusPenso na PaisaGen (Ernesto Neto or the Bug Suspended Over the Landscape). The exhibition is curated by Jessica Morgan, Contemporary Art Cuartor at Tate Modern. This exhibition invites viewers to touch, smell and delve into the created space. The proposal by Ernesto Neto in this show addresses a radical approach to the act of living, as it also suggests the tools that are necessary to examine our everyday environment. Upon entering the large, white, and luminous space that is the Sala Molinos, viewers find a woven structure that successfully conveys the uniqueness of the space and of the work. Hanging from the ceiling, this piece appears to have fallen-but without ever touching the floor-as it gives the impression of a hanging intertwined labyrinth. Viewers eventually realize that the actual work becomes the complete experience of walking through the exhibition, as they are invited to enter a structure that consists of a suspended net of cords and small plastic balls. The goal of Faena Arts Center is to offer a space for cutting-edge contemporary art proposals through a program of exhibitions with a strong interdisciplinary focus. O Bicho SusPenso na PaisaGen will remain open until February 12, 2012.
