Between Forever and Never at the Venice Biennale

Until November 27 of this year, the Istituto Italo-Latino Americano (IILA) presents at the Latin American Pavilion of the 54th Venice Biennale, the exhibition entitled Between Forever and Never-quoting the title of a poem by Uruguayan writer Mario Benedetti-dedicated to the bicentennial of Latin American independence. Politics, evolution, history, society, and culture are some of the themes covered as part of the multidisciplinary content found in the pavilion. The common denominator of the exhibition addresses two hundred years of Latin American history, observed from several perspectives and materialized in each of the works on display. The exhibition was organized by Patricia Rivadeneira, Cultural Secretary of the IILA, and curated by Alfons Hug, director of the Goethe-Institut in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Latin American artists invited are: Leticia El Halli-Obeid (Argentina), Narda Alvarado (Bolivia), Neville D´Almeida (Brazil), Sebastián Preece (Chile), Juan Fernando Herrán (Colombia), Sila Chanto (Costa Rica), Reynier Leyva-Novo (Cuba), María Rosa Jijón (Ecuador), Walterio Iraheta (El Salvador), Regina José Galindo (Guatemala), Adán Vallecillo (Honduras), Julieta Aranda (Mexico), Rolando Castellón (Nicaragua), Humberto Vélez (Panama), Claudia Casarino (Paraguay), Fernando Gutiérrez (Peru), David Pérez-Karmadavis (Dominican Republic), Martín Sastre (Uruguay), and Alexander Apóstol (Venezuela).
