International Conference on Culture and Digital Technology

The emergence of digital technologies and the transformation of informatics and telecommunications, along with the popularization of the Internet, personal computer, and mobile devices, will generate new possibilities for the production of information, as well as a new ease of storage and portability, and the freedom to function in different times and spaces, thus altering in significant ways the relationship between producers, distributors, and consumers of culture. This conference seeks to bring thinkers together around these topics, on the basis of five main axes: mediations between education and culture; the languages of art; the search for diagnostics, and formation of audiences in the cultural field; addressing audiences on the Internet; and sharing economies. The intention is to reflect about how digital technologies have impacted ways of producing and consuming culture in the work of cultural managers. The conference features the following panelists: André Lemos, Carlos Affonso Pereira de Souza, Gilson Schwartz, José Murilo Costa Carvalho, Ladislau Dowbor, Marco Antonio de Almeida, Marcus Bastos and Silvio Meira, from Brazil. And, as international participants, Christiane Riedel (Germany), Cissi Montilla (Mexico), Fabian Wagmisnter (Argentina), Primavera De Filippi (Italy) and Sergio D´Antonio Maceiras (Spain). The event will take place on September 23 and 24, 2014, 10 am to 6 pm, at the SESC Vila Mariana in São Paulo. Registration is open starting on September 2. For more information: www.sescsp.org.br
