The Encuentro con el Coleccionismo de Arte Contemporáneo, an encounter on contemporary art collecting, will be held at the León de Greiff Auditorium of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. It is aimed at promoting a dialogue between prominent players in the international art scene-in the context of the Sixth Bogota International Art Fair-that centers on contemporary art collecting. The event will address the conceptual tools necessary to establish theoretical guidelines for collecting and to learn about the difficulties and challenges of the trade. Among the participants are: Alma Ruiz, Associate Curator at The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles; María Carlota Pérez, Curator at the Colección Maldonado in Venezuela; Ruba Katrib, Associate Curator at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Miami; Ángela María Pérez, Cultural Deputy Manager of the Banco de la República Art Collection, Colombia; Lisa Elf, Curator at the Morgan Collection; and David Campany, Professor at the University of Westminster in London. Conversations between curators from prominent collections about their professional experiences and the results they have achieved will become an opportunity to understand the professional and conceptual implications that arise as a result of establishing theoretical guidelines for a collection, as well as to learn firsthand the hurdles and challenges that are part of the challenging world of art collecting.
