The Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) inaugurates a new exhibition space located in the side façade of the Meier building. The space will be called "The Great Glass" and it will be permanently open to the exterior of the museum. According to a press release from the MACBA, the new museum space will "try to interrupt the cycles and routines of the pre-established productivity and it will solely be visible from the museum's exterior." "The Great Glass" will be inaugurated with the work entitled Los Pies que Faltan (The Missing Feet) by Javier Codesal (Sabiñánigo, Huesca, 1958). It consists of a project recorded in Colombia, in towns located between Bogota and the Department of Meta, affected by the violence generated by the army, guerilla and paramilitary groups. The mural installation includes video accounts by persons who have suffered—first-hand or indirectly—accidents with land-mines and other explosives. The accounts are alternatingly complemented with texts, thoughts and questions generated by the artists. Each exhibition will remain open for a period of six months. The proposal by Javier Codesal will be followed by other in situ projects by Pep Dardanyà (Caldes d'Estrac, Barcelona, 1961), during the beginning of 2015, and by Itziar Okariz (San Sebastián, The Basque Country, 1965) through the mid of 2015.
