Emiliano Valdés steps down as chief curator of the MAMM

Emiliano Valdés, chief curator of the Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín (MAMM), has confirmed that he will leave his post on December 31, 2024. In his ten-year tenure, Valdés has directed nearly 100 exhibitions and promoted access to art for a more diverse public.
Under his leadership, the MAMM has established itself as a benchmark in Colombia's art scene, highlighting its relevance in the field of contemporary art in the region. During his tenure, the museum has presented monographic exhibitions of Colombian artists such as María Teresa Hincapié, Juan Mejía, María Isabel Rueda, Manuel Hernández, Carlos Motta and Karen Lamassonne. In addition, exhibitions of international artists such as Dan Flavin, Tania Candiani, DIS, Allora & Calzadilla, Carlos Amorales, Felipe Mujica, Naufus Ramírez Figueroa, Rodrigo Hernández, and Daniel Steegmann have been held.
Valdés has also focused on educational and community initiatives, expanding the museum's reach beyond its walls and fostering dialogue between emerging artists and the public.
