The Pulitzer Journalism Awards presented each year by Columbia University in New York was granted to photographers who took meaningful snapshots of the shocking events that occurred in Hong Kong and India in 2019. The best photojournalism work went to photographers Channi Anand, Mukhtar Khan, and Dar Yasin of the Associated Press agency for his "shocking images of the disputed Kashmir territory." The editorial photography category was awarded to a team of photographers from the Reuters agency, for their impressive coverage of the protests in Hong Kong.
Both photographic works show the vital role of photography to document, denounce, and expose the magnitude of events, and the work of the photojournalist at the forefront of events.
