Museo Reina Sofía Calls for Participation in Museum of the Commons Project

The Museo Reina Sofía has announced a call for participation in the Museum of the Commons, a four-year project. This initiative, implemented by the confederation L'Internationale and funded by the European Union through the Creative Europe program, focuses on three key areas: climate emergency, decolonial perspectives, and the evolution of cultural institutions.
The first area addresses the climate crisis and the need to adopt sustainable artistic and cultural practices. The second area explores decolonial perspectives, highlighting the role of local histories in understanding environmental and colonial violence. The third area focuses on the role of museums and artistic organizations within social networks and complex ecosystems, seeking new forms of democratization and institutional openness.
The project will feature activities such as exhibitions, nomadic schools, artist residencies, and community workshops, aimed at promoting cultural co-creation and supporting environmental, social, and artistic transformation.
Applications for participation in the Museum of the Commons must be submitted by September 15, 2024. It is important to note that the opinions and viewpoints expressed within this project are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the official positions of the European Union or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
