The Museo Moderno (MAMBA) in Buenos Aires inaugurated "A 18 minutos del Sol*", a group show curated by Javier Villa and Marcos Krämer. The exhibition brings together more than a hundred Argentine artists under a curatorial proposal that poses the question of how to create a decolonial history of space. In Villa's words, "Can the space outside ourselves function as a mirror to see ourselves from the outside and re-imagine ourselves socially and politically? What sustainable and imaginative contributions to exploration can we offer from the South?"
"18 Minutes from the Sun*" organizes the works under three interconnected axes: science, indigenous cosmologies, and spirituality. Thus, within these main categories gravitate the proposals of various contemporary and historical Argentine artists, as well as those with indigenous or Western roots. The exhibition brings together the work of artists such as Antonio Berni, Alicia Penalba, Nicolás Bacal, Grete Stern, Diego Bianchi, Alicia Herrero, Alberto Greco, Micaela Piñero, Lucio Fontana, Xul Solar, Joaquín Torres-García, Enio Iommi, Gyula Kosice, and Fernanda Laguna.
The exhibition will be on view through December 2023 at the Museo Moderno, Av. San Juan 350, C 1147 AAO, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
