The Guggenheim Museum inaugurates "Gego: Measuring Infinity"

On March 31, the Guggenheim Museum will open the "Gego: Measuring Infinity" exhibition, a retrospective that presents one of the most comprehensive surveys of Gego's work (1912-1994). Artist of German origin nationalized in Venezuela. Throughout the museum, 200 works by the artist from different periods will be exhibited, bringing together early creations from the fifties to works from the early nineties. The exhibition will bring together the artist's sculptures, drawings, prints, textiles, and books.
This exhibition brings to light her artistic production, which until now has had a limited reach in the United States. Her work explores the limits of sculpture where line, space, and volume overlap. Moreover, her art results from an investigation that exceeds the art realm integrating architecture, design, and pedagogy.
This presentation of Gego: Measuring Infinity is cocurated by Pablo León de la Barra, Curator at Large, Latin America, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, New York, and Geaninne Gutiérrez-Guimarães, Associate Curator, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, New York.
The exhibition will be on view until September 10, 2023, at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. A selection of this show will travel in the fall of 2023 to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
