El Museo del Barrio announces new online archive of exhibition catalogues and brochures

As part of its new online bilingual initiative, El Museo en tu Casa, El Museo del Barrio launched an online archive of exhibition catalogues and brochures from the past fifty years. These publications are important scholarly resources that in many cases represent the first, and in some instances, the only existing references on artists and/or subjects. Featuring illustrations and texts by artists, scholars, museum professionals, and other experts, these publications reflect El Museo del Barrio’s rich exhibition history, as well as its long-standing role as a leader in the Latino cultural field.
Materials include catalogs from groundbreaking exhibitions like La herencia artística
de Puerto Rico, co-hosted by El Museo and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1973;
pioneering group exhibitions dedicated to Taino visual culture and the Nuyorican
art collective, Taller Boricua; catalogues produced to celebrate institutional
milestones, including the three part 25th Anniversary exhibition series; early
monographs for such important artists as Myrna Baéz, Rafael MontaNez Ortiz,
Pepón Osorio, and Carmen Herrera, among others.
Full text digital reproductions of these historical publications are available for open access to the public via the links below. https://www.elmuseo.org/archives-exhibitions.
