The Gibbes Museum of Art announced that renowned art collector Martin Z. Margulies will be the keynote speaker at the museum’s annual Distinguished Lecture Series, taking place at the Charleston Gaillard Center on November 11, 2020. In addition to safety precautions for those attending the lecture in-person, tickets for a virtual screening will also be available.
Martin Z. Margulies is consistently named one of the top 200 art collectors in the world, having taken part in the meteoric rise of the Miami art scene in the late 1990s which gave birth to North America’s largest contemporary art fair, Art Basel Miami. Mr. Margulies has gone on to build one of the major collections of contemporary art in the world today, and he is considered to be one of the top 25 photography collectors in the world.
The event will take place Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 6:00pm. Staggered arrival times will be scheduled by the Charleston Gaillard Center Ticketing Office and communicated to patrons at the time of ticket purchase. The Charleston Gaillard Center is ubicated at 95 Calhoun Street. The price for ticket will be $50 in-person and $10 virtual live stream. There will be limited tickets available to ensure guests remain socially distanced.
The Gaillard Center’s team will ensure all safety precautions are taken, including increased cleaning of the full facility before the lecture, staggered suggested arrival times and temperature checks. Face coverings will be required, and disposable masks will be provided by the Gaillard to anyone who does not have one. A high-quality virtual stream will also be available.
