MUAC presents a retrospective of Magali Lara: "Five Decades in Spiral"

The Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) is hosting the exhibition Cinco décadas en espiral (Five Decades in Spiral), offering a comprehensive review of the work of Mexican artist Magali Lara. The exhibition takes visitors on a reverse journey through her career, from two recent murals to her early graphic creations from the 1970s and 1980s.
The show highlights Lara's unique approach, as she has experimented with a variety of media, including ceramics, artist books, tapestries, animations, and photography. Through these mediums, the artist creates a distinctive visual language that establishes an intimate relationship between the body, space, and material. Committed to feminism, Lara has developed an artistic proposal that reflects on emotions, affective bonds, and vital processes. Her work, which has also engaged in collective practices, is distinguished by its poetic use of natural and corporeal elements.
Curated by Virginia Roy Luzarraga and Cuauhtémoc Medina, this exhibition celebrates five decades of Lara’s work and reveals how the spiral has been a recurring symbol of continuity and transformation in her artistic universe.
