MOLAA reopens in July
On July 1st the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) announced its reopening starting Wednesday, July 14, with programming, in person and online, special events and exhibits for everyone's enjoyment.
"We are very happy to announce that the MOLAA reopens its doors in early July and that this reunion with the public will take place along with the opening of the great exhibition Judy Baca: Memorias de Nuestra Tierra, a Retrospective,” said Dr. Lourdes Ramos-Rivas, President and Chief Executive Officer of MOLAA. “We very much looked forward to this day and we are ready to welcome all to MOLAA and share the new projects we have been developing this past year."
Ramos-Rivas further added that, during the reopening process and with a return to regular operations of the museum, all health and safety measures prescribed by the state government and the city of Long Beach will be implemented.
Beginning Wednesday, July 14, MOLAA will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During this time, attendees will be able to enjoy the exhibit HERland: Women Artists in the MOLAA Collection at Gallery E; the Robert Gumbiner Sculpture and Events Garden, and the new retrospective exhibit by the internationally renowned Chicana painter and muralist from Los Angeles, Judith F. Baca.
In November 2021, MOLAA will celebrate its 25th Anniversary with its annual Gala where the museum will recognize the artistic contributions of Judy Baca, the career of Jaime Jarrín, and the community commitment of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The exhibition calendar includes the retrospective of Chicano artist Judy Baca, the exhibition of Colombian artist Gabriela Sánchez and a collaboration with the AltaMed collection. Some of the cultural events on the agenda for this year include the tenth edition of the Latinx Comics Expo and the traditional Celebration of the Day of the Dead.
