The Museum of Modern Art in Medellín (MAMM) inaugurated “La buena vida. Obras de la colección del Banco de la República,” curated by Emiliano Valdés, Ana Ruiz, and Cristina Vasco. This exhibition showcases an exceptional selection of pieces from the Banco de la República collection, marking a unique event as they are displayed outside the network of cultural centers of Colombia's central bank.
The exhibition brings together works by renowned international artists such as Cecilia Vicuña, Paz Errázuriz, María José Arjona, Graciela Iturbide, Feliza Bursztyn, Óscar Muñoz, José Alejandro Restrepo, Mateo López, Álvaro Barrios, José Bedia, Los Carpinteros (Marco A. Castillo and Dagoberto Rodríguez), among others.
"La buena vida" draws inspiration from the eponymous book by Spanish architect Iñaki Ábalos, which explores iconic modern houses, serving as an invitation to celebrate the diversity of living forms and as a stimulus for creating spaces for profound reflection on living intensely. Under this premise, the MAMM exhibition proposes a journey to contemplate the creation of "la buena vida," where the showcased artworks question modernity's values, such as excessive uniformity and rigid thinking, which materialize in how we inhabit our homes and extend to the territory, the planet, our bodies, minds, and spirits.
The exhibition will be open for visitation until March 31, 2024, at the Museum of Modern Art in Medellín, Cra. 44 #19a-100, El Poblado, Medellín.
