The MAMM Inaugurates Tania Candiani: Offering

On April 26, the Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín (MAMM) will inaugurate "Tania Candiani: Ofrenda," curated by Emiliano Valdés. This individual exhibition of Candiani's work (Mexico, 1974) offers a journey that delves into questions that cut across her work, such as where the essence of life lies from both human and non-human perspectives.
"Tania Candiani: Ofrenda" explores the correspondence between the type of societies created and the ethical frameworks of its individuals, their personal development, and spiritual growth. Likewise, the exhibition explores the relationship between our understanding of life and our perception of reality, using sound, language, and speculation to illustrate how we shape knowledge.
Born in 1974 in Mexico City, Tania Candiani's work often explores the concept of translation; her projects frequently delve into the world of sound and the politics of listening, offering insights into the transformative power of these elements on human and non-human perceptions. A strong emphasis on feminist ideologies and practices characterizes her work, presenting a communal, affective, and ritualistic perspective. Among her achievements are the Guggenheim Fellowship for the Arts and the Research Grant for Artists from the Smithsonian Institution. She represented Mexico at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015.
"Tania Candiani: Ofrenda" will be on display from April 26, 2024, to September 1, 2024, at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín, located at Cra. 44 #19a-100, El Poblado, Medellín, Antioquia.
