The Instituto Cultural de México in Miami (ICMM) Inaugurates the Exhibition "Four Seasons. Carlos García de la Nuez"

The exhibition by Cuban artist Carlos García de la Nuez at the Instituto Cultural de México in Miami opened to the public on November 16 and will remain open until January 18, 2017. The show consists of pieces never before exhibited and expressly created for the event. It represents a continuation of García de la Nuez's inquiries centered on the visual possibilities of abstract language. The work by García de la Nuez offers a visual discourse in which symbols, sgraffito, and drawing are combined with his experience and his interest in Pre-Columbian cultures, architecture and artistic manifestations in Mexico. About "Four Seasons" García de la Nuez said: "In my most recent work, ideas come from the world of geographies, both physical and mental […] Where are we from vs where are we, in the cultural and philosophical sense. It is a sort of imaginary and utopic trip during which very diverse cultural identities are recognized." In the opinion of Mexican consul José Antonio Zabalgoitia, this exhibition demonstrates how "leading artists find in Mexico a fertile environment in which to nourish from the country's historic and cultural wealth in order to create works that build bridges between countries and societies." The importance of this Cuban artist not only resides in his long artistic trajectory in the art world or in his participation in the rupture movement in Cuba; but it is also the result of his deep commitment to the artistic endeavor, which is revealed through his search for content and his pictorial explorations/experimentations. The Instituto Cultural de México in Miami is located at: 1399 SW 1st Ave, 3rd floor, Miami, Fl 33130.
