The cleaning of Michelangelo?s David was subject of debate

The cleaning of Michelangelo¿s marble David was subject of debate amongst specialists who questioned the best method to do it properly. Some specialists argued that using a dry clean method with smooth brushes and cotton sponges was the safest way available, while others insisted that a humid technique using compressors of distilled water every 20 minutes would achieve better results. Luckily, an agreement was reached and David will now receive a proper bath with distilled water, mineral spirits, cellulose pulp and clay, which will hopefully remove the gypsum and yellowish spots of beeswax. The cleaning procedure is set to start during this week. For more information, visit: http://dsc.discovery.com/news/briefs/20030915/michelangelo.html
