EFG Bank and ArtNexus announced emerging artist Manuel Calderón, represented by Galería El Museo, as the winner of the EFG ArtNexus Acquisition Award in its second consecutive year.
The winning work was selected at the Ch.ACO fair, Santiago de Chile, in 2012, by curator Alexia Tala in collaboration with Celia Sredni de Birbragher, Publisher and Editor of ArtNexus Magazine.
The nominees for the award, alongside Manuel Calderón, were Eduard Moreno at ArtBo 2011; José Carlos Martinat at SP-Arte 2012; and Eugenia Calvo at arteBA 2012.
EFG Bank and ArtNexus organize the acquisition award for the work or an emerging Latin American artists through a pre-selection process in four fairs devoted to contemporary Latin American art. The goal of the award is to promote the production of visual arts works among emerging contemporary artists and to generate greater awareness of Latin America's regional fairs among the world's collectors.
