Director of the Institut Valencià d’Art Modern Resigns

Consuelo Císcar, who for the last ten years has served as Director of the Institut Valencià d'Art Modern (IVAM), announced on March 10 that she will be stepping down from the post for "health reasons." The news came in the form of a resignation letter addressed to the Minister of Culture, María José Català, and was also announced by Valencian Vice President, José Císcar. The Generalitat of Valencia will open a call for an international competition aimed at selecting a new director for the institution. It is the first time that the Valencian government plans to organize an open process in which it will entrust a committee of highly prestigious experts with the selection of the right person for the post. The Governing Board of the IVAM, through its spokesperson, announced that it will open the call in mid-April after approving the replacement and the rules for the selection process, which as part of its selection criteria it will take into account the merits, equality and abilities of the candidates.
