The Dia Art Foundation appointed Jeffrey Weiss, as its new director. After an eight month search, the position was granted to Weiss who previously worked as Head of the Modern and Contemporary Art Department at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., where he curated the retrospective exhibition of artist Jasper Johns. Weiss will assume his new position at the end of spring, occupying the space left by Michael Govan, who is the new director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Jeffrey Weiss is 48 years old and obtained his PhD in 1991 from the Fine Arts Institute at NYU. He joined the Modern Art Department in 1994 and in 2000 he was named head of the department. The main task for the new director is to find a new location in New York City.
