The Museum of Modern Art in Bogotá (MAMBO) inaugurated the exhibition “Desde la ventana: Ana Mercedes Hoyos. Una retrospectiva” (From the Window: Ana Mercedes Hoyos. A Retrospective), curated by Cecilia Fajardo-Hill and Osbel Suárez. The exhibition, Hoyos' fourth solo show at MAMBO, traces her artistic transformations from her early abstract works to her latest figurative pieces. Featuring over a hundred works by the artist.
Organized chronologically, the exhibition focuses particularly on the period from 1968 to 1984, during which Hoyos developed her style by merging pop art, landscape, and abstraction. This retrospective represents the most extensive and comprehensive exhibition to date dedicated to Hoyos' work.
Ana Mercedes Hoyos (1942-2014) centered her artistic production on exploring themes such as windows, doors, still lifes, and Caribbean landscapes. She received the first prize at the XXVII National Salon of Visual Arts in 1978. Her work is included in prominent collections such as those of MAMBO, Banco de la República de Colombia, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and the Jorge Pérez Collection, among others.
The exhibition will be open for visits until October 6, 2024, at the Museum of Modern Art in Bogotá, Cl. 24 #6-00, Bogotá, Colombia.
