PhotoEspaña announce that its 2012 edition, to be held from May 30th through July 22nd in Madrid and Lisbon, will once again be curated by Gerardo Mosquera. The thematic focus will be "From Here. Context and Internationalization", dealing with the mechanisms that the globalization of art has made possible as well as the relationships between its context and the global space, the local and the international. Artists like Carlos Garaicoa and collective exhibitions like Visual Anxiety (which includes Chen Chien-Jen, Wnag Ningde, and Miki Kratsman) and From the Factory to the World: Photography and Andy Warhol¿s Community (with works by Cecil Beaton, Stephen Shore, and Andy Warhol, among others) will be part of the program. It is in this context that PhotoEspaña, the international photography and visual arts festival, is making a call for entries to Descubrimientos PHE. This is a viewing of portfolios to take place on May 29th through 31st in Madrid. The viewing offers photographers from all over the world the opportunity to present their work in individual gatherings with eight curators and editors. A jury will select seventy photographers from among all submissions, to be viewed. Interested participants can register at:
