13th Havana Biennial

Centered on the theme of "The Construction of the Possible," the 13th Havana Biennial will be held from April 12th to May 12 of 2019. Once again, its curators want to ensure that the event reaches the entire Cuban capital which this year celebrates its 5000th anniversary. Integrated in the program for the first time ever are the provinces of Matanzas, Pinar del Río, Cienfuegos, and Camagüey. Conceived as a live event or experience in real-time, the event will include the participation of 200 creators from more than 30 countries in the American continent, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania. The main venues hosting the events will be: Centro Wifredo Lam, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales, Fototeca de Cuba, Gran Teatro de La Habana, Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), Biblioteca Nacional "José Martí," Galería Villa Manuela of the UNEAC, Pabellón Cuba, Taller Chullima; and several institutions belonging to the Oficina del Historiador and the Malecón, featuring the third edition of the project "Behind the Wall," curated by Juan Calzadilla with the participation of more than seventy artists. The Pinar del Río province will present Proyecto farmacia (Pharmacy Project), while in Matanzas artist Magdalena Campos will show the proposal titled Ríos intermitentes (Intermittent Rivers).
