The Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation together with the Colombian Institute of Educational Assistance and Studies Abroad (ICETEX, Spanish acronym) and the Guerrero Academy of Arts have come together to promote the artistic endeavors of young Colombian artists through the National Academic Art Exhibition. The exhibition¿s inauguration will take place on November 23. The salon, created by the Guerrero Academy of Arts in association with the Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation, is commemorating the tenth anniversary of its founding with a prize made possible with the support of ICETEX. The prize consists of 40 million Colombian pesos (approximately $20,000 USD) and roundtrip airfare to any place in Europe or The United States. Its purpose is to allow the winner to advance in postgraduate studies, research, internship, artistic residence or to gain experience abroad. Fifteen different art teaching institutions across the country selected the best proposals from their academic programs among those of current students, thesis projects and recent graduates. The exhibit¿s participating artists were chosen from these selections.
