The Fundación ARS TEOR/éTica invites curators of any nationality and gender to participate in its open call for the selection of a curator for the post of Chief Curator of TEOR/éTica in San Jose, Costa Rica. The main responsibility of the person selected for the Chief Curator post will be to develop the curatorial and artistic guidelines of TEOR/éTica. In addition, he/she will be entrusted with strengthening the institution’s mid-term projections and ensuring that it complies with the main objective of the Foundation and continuous TEOR/éTica’s role in the development and understanding of contemporary art and thought. It is essential that the Chief Curator is well informed and interested in the development of projects and initiatives related to TEOR/éTica in Costa Rica, Central America and the Caribbean, as he/she seeks to strengthen ties and build connections that promote the objectives of the institution. The successful candidate must generate interest among a wide-ranging audience, as he/she engages professionals from various disciplines of thought and creation to participate in the institution’s programming, through lectures or other strategies. The Chief Curator will be responsible for actively participating in the development of the programming of the institution as well as in any organizational and funding related aspects. He/she will report directly to the Directorate General or, ultimately, to the Board of Directors. A short letter that explains the reasons the candidate wants to work for TEOR/éTica (up to 500 words). 3. A selection of published texts and/or links to access those texts. 4. Anwer the following questions (no more than 350 words per question): a. How do you perceive the mission TEOR/éTica and the contributions that the institution has achieved to date in the field of regional and international art, and what is the curatorial vision you propose to meet the institutional goals and to expand their scope? b. What are your particular interests in contemporary art, and in which ways have you addressed them in his curatorial work? c. In addition to the current audience that TEOR/éTica already attracts, which other potential audiences do you envision for the institution and how would your curatorial project incorporate them? How do you imagine the local and regional potential impact of your work with TEOR/éTica? Please describe a curatorial project developed by you that gives you particular satisfaction and that you regard as an achievement. Likewise, please also describe a curatorial project also developed by you that was not successful in your view. In both instances, please explain the criteria and reasons behind your assessments.
