The Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI) is looking for candidates interested in occupying the position of curator of contemporary art that has opened at the museum. The curator will be responsible for the institution¿s contemporary art program, framed as a comprehensive platform for wide-ranging proposals whose goal is to promote contemporary art creation in the visual arts field and its connection with other forms of expression. The program is built on the artwork from the museum¿s permanent collection, which today includes near one thousand pieces produced since 1950. The curator will be expected to develop a strategic expansion plan for the museum¿s modern and contemporary art collections, through close collaboration with donors, artists, gallery owners, as well as through a comprehensive research and development program. Likewise, the curator will work closely with the collectors that are part of the Contemporary Art Acquisitions Committee (CAAC, its Spanish acronym). He or she will be responsible for planning and developing a dynamic temporary exhibition program, projects and public programs, centered on Peruvian and international contemporary art. She/he is expected to be capable of developing wide-ranging and participatory projects to be carried out in collaboration with other national and international art professionals and through institutional initiatives. Candidates interested in participating in this call must have completed a MA or PhD degree in Art History or in curatorial studies. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will only be eligible to participate if they can demonstrate considerable experience in the development of contemporary art projects.
