Mexican critic and curator Cuauhtémoc Medina (1965) has been appointed Chief Curator of the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC), replacing María Inés Rodríguez (Colombia, 1968), who had held the post since 2011, barely three months after her resignation as Chief Curator for the León MUAC.
Cuauhtémoc Medina is an art critic, curator, and historian. Since 1992 he has been a full time researcher at the Aesthetic Research Institute of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Between 2002 and 2008, Medina was the first Associate Curator for the Tate Modern's Latin American Art Collections. Among his projects is Cuando la fe mueve montañas (Lima, Peru, 2001), by Francis Alÿs.
