Fourth Curatorial Research Travel Grant

The Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection (CPPC in its Spanish acronym) and Independent Curators International (ICI) are calling for submissions to their fourth CPCC Grant for curatorial research in Central America and the Caribbean. The grant will support a contemporary art curator based anywhere in the world, traveling to Central America and/or the Caribbean to research the region's art and cultural activity. With the intention of generating new collaborations with artists, curators, museums, and cultural centers in the area, the grant will cover expenses connected to curatorial residencies, study visits and/or archival research. The trip can be scheduled at any point between May and November of 2015, with a duration between three and twelve weeks. The grant will cover expenses up to US$10,000. The call is open to independent and institutionally-affiliated curators. Applications by established or emerging curators (three or more years of experience) will be taken into consideration. Candidates must submit: • A letter of approximately 1,500 words (3 pages) presenting their research proposal, and a brief summary of the reasons why their research is important and must take place now, as well as the names of the artists, curators, collections, archives, or institutions intended for visits. • An itinerary or plan for the residential program with proposed travel dates (one page). • A budget covering all research expenses, including food and lodging, compensation, and translation costs (one page). • A CV not exceeding 3 pages. Documents can be sent, before April 1, to: research@curatorsintl.org under the subject "Travel Award CPPC". Printouts sent via regular mail will not be received. The letter, itinerary, budget, and CV must be in numbered pages in a single PDF file. Applications can be submitted in English or Spanish. At the end of the trip, the grant recipient must present a detailed expense report. For more information: research@curatorsintl.org.
