Cosmin Costinaș (b. 1982, Romania) and Inti Guerrero (b. 1983, Colombia) have been appointed Artistic Directors of the 9th Yokohama Triennale, which will take place from April 23 to September 12, 2027, in the Japanese city of Yokohama. The appointment was announced by the event’s Organizing Committee.
Founded in 2001, the Yokohama Triennale is one of Japan’s leading international exhibitions of contemporary art. The upcoming edition aims to reassess the role of large-scale recurring exhibitions in the current global context, with an emphasis on sustainability and dialogue between local and international perspectives.
Based in Hong Kong, both curators have extensive international experience and have collaborated on numerous projects, including the 2024 Biennale of Sydney. In preparation for the 2027 edition, they will work closely with the Yokohama Museum of Art and a range of cultural institutions across the city.
Looking ahead to 2027, the Triennale seeks to strengthen its engagement with the local context while fostering long-term exchange with international communities. Within this framework, Costinaș and Guerrero will collaborate with the Yokohama Museum of Art and various art spaces in Yokohama.
