The MIAMI INSTITUTE is pleased to invite visual artists to participate in ¿Phi 2005,¿a juried contest that will select a work of art to be acquired and displayed in the Four Seasons Hotel and Tower in Miami, Florida. ¿Phi¿ is a cultural project interested in promoting contemporary artists whose work is inspired by natural harmony and balance. The concept of ¿Phi,¿ also known as golden mean or divine proportion, is important in all of nature, art and architecture, and is a key to all aspects of the institute¿s services including plastic surgery, cosmetic dentistry, skin care and wellness. Artists are invited to submit artworks in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, video, digital art or mix media. Final dimensions of the piece must not exceed 60¿ x 60¿ x 3 ¿and it must not weigh more than 75 pounds. The application needs to include a short explanation of the artwork and how it relates to ¿Phi¿, 2 images, slide inventory forms, a curriculum vitae and a short artist statement. The awarded work will be featured in the public art space located at the 3rd Floor- Sky Lobby for a period of a year, and will be part of the Miami Institute Art Collection.
