Divergentes is a project whose intention is to promote the relation between artistic creativity and technological innovation, and to develop a new dialogue between the business world ¿ and its technological environment -, the artistic world ¿ and its creative development -, and society, which benefits from the results of social and productive innovation. The project consists of artists residencies in technological centres or innovative companies in the Basque Country (in May 2005, for a period of 2 to 4 weeks), to produce a work of art with the materials or processes used in the particular company. This work will later be exhibited outdoors in the town of Zumaia (Gipuzkoa-Spain), from June to September 2005, along a route which starts at the Zuloaga Museum. The centres which accept a resident artist are technological centres for applied research, or production or services companies with a high innovating component in any branch of economic and social activity. The call is open for visual artists of any nationality and place of residence, which are at the start of their professional career. The final date for the reception of applications will be 8th March. Works may be developed in any of the following media: painting, sculpture, photography, video, cinema and installation. The artists who apply are selected by a panel of judges composed of important figures of the art world and a representative of the world of innovation. Divergentes is promoted by the Artetik berrikuntzara Association, which includes the Windsor Kulturgintza gallery in Bilbao, the Zuloaga Museum in Zumaia (www.ignaciozuloaga.com), and Xabide, cultural management and communication (www.xabide.es).
