Open Call: ESTETICAS (IM)POSSIBLES [(IM)POSSIBLE AESTHETICS] CASA GIAP

CASA GIAP is a residency center for artists and academics in Chiapas, Mexico. This venue opened in 2017 and was founded by the Grupo de Investigación en Arte y Política, Natalia Arcos and Alessandro Zagato. The residencies are scheduled every 6 months under a specific theme. Aesthetic parameters, poetics and committed creativity are also established. The objective is not the creation of a work, although it may happen; the intention of the residency is to generate dialogues, knowledge and reflections.
The organization operates under a model where the house has its own lodging, common areas and space for classes. It cooperates with spaces such as Galería MUY, Sendas, Cooperativa Paraíso, Taniperla Restaurant and others.
“ESTÉTICAS (IM)POSIBLES” [(IM)POSSIBLE AESTHETICS] "AESTHETICS (IM)POSSIBLE" the planned residency for February 2024 will be a meeting between artists and art researchers (curators, historians, professors and managers) and will inquire into various concepts that lead to the understanding of other aesthetic possibilities, practices, economic logics, circulations, imaginations, communities, among others. The residency will be in Spanish; however, translations into English, French, Portuguese and Italian are available. The equivalent cost in U.S. dollars is $1,000 which covers travel expenses along with seminars and program meetings. A full scholarship is offered to an indigenous artist to join the group of residents.
