INTRODUCTION The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, referred as MNCARS, is Spain¿s National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Candidate Requirements and Merits Candidates must submit the following requirements and merits: a) Must be Spanish or a citizen of a European Union member state. For citizens of other non-European Union member states, the appointment will be subject to obtaining legal residency in Spain. b) Have completed a bachelor degree or its equivalent. c) Demonstrate extensive professional experience in directorial or managerial areas pertaining to modern and contemporary art museums or centers. d) Accredit an ample understanding of both Spanish and international modern and contemporary art to achieve the function of MNCARS in supporting contemporary artistic creation and to effectively transform the institution into an internationally renowned research center capable of developing a policy of producing publications and exhibits at the highest level, framed by the institution¿s areas of specialty and collections, and in close partnership with other scientific and museum studies institutions. e) Demonstrate leadership and other skills such as communication, negotiation, planning, prioritizing, decision-making, conflict resolution, and evaluating organizational efficiency and effectiveness. f) Be familiar with the economic agents prone to contribute financial, human, and cultural resources to the institution as well as a capacity for developing programs to increase their sponsorship. g) Must submit, in Spanish or any of the other co-official languages in Spain, or in English or French, a general guideline of his or her Museologic Plan for the institution. h) Must write and speak Spanish fluently. i) Have the knowledge and ability to negotiate and lead and proposed Museologic Plan to the staff and to implement it in the Museum¿s departments, completing it with the organization of programs and lines of action according to prioritized objectives, and by identifying the roles the different departments will play in the coordinated achievement of such goals. j) Their capacity will be taken into account for representing the Museum in a broad range of fields, for working closely with the Royal Patronage, and for building and developing both internal and external networks of relations. k) The level of knowledge of English and French, and of any other language, will be taken into account. IV. Submitting the Candidacies. All documentation required for the announcement must be duly verifiable and addressed by name to the President of the Expert Committee in a sealed envelope entitled Proceso de selección del Director del MNCARS and sent by certified mail to the following address: Plaza del Rey, 1, 28004 Madrid, Spain; or by taken it in person to the Registro General del Ministerio de Cultura (Plaza del Rey, 1. Madrid), or by any other ways predetermined in article 38.4 of Law N° 30/1992, enacted on the 26th of November, referring to the Judicial Regime governing Public Administration and Common Administrative Procedural systems, modified by Law N° 4/1999, enacted on the 13th of January.
