Open Call for the XX Bienal de Pintura Rufino Tamayo

The Secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno de México has opened the call for the XX edition of the Bienal de Pintura Rufino Tamayo. This event, which is part of the commemoration of the 125th anniversary of Tamayo's birth, will take place from May 30 to August 31, 2025.
Launched in 1982 in honor of the Oaxacan painter Rufino Tamayo, this biennial has been a cornerstone for the promotion of visual arts in Mexico. Over its 42 years of existence, it has played a key role in the formation of a collection of contemporary painting and has promoted experimentation in the pictorial field. The acquisition awards granted during its 19 editions have allowed for the gathering of a collection of 57 works, which are preserved under the guardianship of the Secretariat of Cultures and Arts of Oaxaca.
Tamayo, born in Oaxaca on August 25, 1899, was an artistic reference of his time, standing out for his reflection on Mexican identity while distancing himself from the political and nationalistic movements of his era. His work fused pre-Hispanic influences with vibrant colors, becoming a source of inspiration for subsequent generations of artists.
The registration platform to participate in the Biennial is open and will remain so until March 16, 2025. Interested individuals can obtain more information about the call and the registration process through the official website www.bienaltamayo.com.
