Open Call Bienal de Arte Contemporáneo SACO 2025

The Bienal de Arte Contemporáneo SACO, organized since 2004, invites visual artists to participate in its main exhibition for the 2025 edition, titled “Ecosistemas oscuros” (Dark Ecosystems). Selected artists will have the opportunity to reside for approximately 10 days at the Instituto Superior Latinoamericano de Arte (ISLA) in Antofagasta, where they can develop and set up their works.
An international jury consisting of five contemporary art experts will evaluate proposals based on their quality, feasibility, and suitability for the Melbourne Clark Historical Dock in Antofagasta, as well as their relevance to the concept of “Ecosistemas oscuros”. Seven projects will be chosen that must be visible and understandable from multiple angles.
The call is open to artists of any nationality, with no age or experience restrictions. The deadline for submissions is October 29 at 11:59 PM (Chile continental time). The SACO Cultural Corporation will cover round-trip airfare, food per diem, technical and logistical support, and shared accommodation.
SACO aims to establish the Atacama Desert as a significant center for art and transdisciplinary research, fostering the dynamism and professionalization of the local scene. SACO is dedicated to creating and managing autonomous and collaborative projects in Antofagasta, promoting art as a tool for informal education, intercultural exchange, and social transformation.
