The Ibermuseos Program invites museum institutions to apply before August 6 to the "Conversations. Museums and Communities" biennial call aimed at supporting the production and exchange of exhibition projects between museum institutions from two or more countries within the Ibero-American region. This edition of the call seeks to support exhibition projects that address themes like cultural diversity, the preservation of memory and knowledge of community-based living cultures, with a focus on gender perspectives and/or migratory processes. It also aims at fostering the development of relationships between museums and communities through their social memories and practices. The event will select those exhibition projects that compellingly showcase the social role of museums and their relationships with their communities, through the recognition of social memory as a source of knowledge and as a right. The global purse allocated for the winning projects is US$60,000.00, which will be distributed so each project selected gets US$30,000.00. The award will be used to cover the total or partial costs of the selected projects, to allow for the circulation of collections and/or exhibitions between museum institutions or for the exchange of exhibitions between institutions from the Ibero-American region. These financial supports will be granted to the winners in two installments: 1st – To cover the production and/or readjustment of the exhibition projects. 2nd – To cover the mounting and, if applicable, the walk through the exhibition. The call is open to museum or similar institutions from two or more countries within the Ibero-American region, one of which—the one responsible for the project—must be a member of the Intergovernmental Committee of the Ibermuseos Program (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, and Uruguay). Each project must be submitted by a single applying institution—which belongs to one of the member countries of the Intergovernmental Committee of the Ibermuseos Program—which will be responsible for the global management of the received funds and the dialogue with the Ibermuseos Program.
