With the exhibition entitled Color on Color that will remain open until September of 2012, the Fundación Jesús Soto and the Galería de Arte Ascaso pay tribute to the artistic trajectory and production of Master Jesús Soto.
The exhibition presents important pieces from different artistic periods of his oeuvre, as it emphasizes his work of recent years. Through the exhibition across several atmospheres created for this special occasion, viewers are able to clearly appreciate "several families of works."
Within each of these families Soto accomplishes several sensorial experiences and discourses. To be immersed in one of his great Penetrables often becomes an extremely interesting experience. His famous Ambivalencias have been arranged very close together in the exhibition room, with the idea of establishing visual connections that generate virtual movements on the plane, through the use of flat colors that are carefully superimposed over the images' thin lines. Offering a fresh insight that showcases Soto's profound knowledge of chromatic relationships—with which he daringly breaks from academic conventionalisms in order to create a new aesthetic—the exhibition centers on his use of color as a source of reflection.
Lead by Soto's daughter, Isabelle, and by Tomás Musset, visual artist and head of the restoration workshop of the foundation, the entire curatorship—from concept, title, the selection of the works, and their arrangement across the exhibition space—was entrusted to the curatorial team of the Fundación Jesús Soto. Musset worked closely with Raul Soto for a long time.
